I arrived into the world. I weighed 9 lbs 1 oz (4.111 Kg) and was 54cm long (thanks to my long legs). My mum was brought away immediately to the operating theatre and I was left alone with my Dad. He looked rather shocked and worried that he didn't have a clue what to do with me. Eventually we were brought up to the nursery ward and were left in the changing room until Mum arrived back from surgery. It was there I had my first photo taken on camera phone...
Later on I met Mum for the first time. Considering the past 3 days she had gone through, she looked like she had just returned from a 2 week holiday in the sun. She was very happy to see me.
My first hug from mum
My first hug from mumIt was then that I learned my name, Eilbhe Aisling. Sliabh Eilbhe is one of the most iconic landmarks in the Burren, Co. Clare. Aisling is the name of my twin sister. Immediately there was a debate about how to spell the name, but I think the Irish version is going to stick!
By the end of the night I was wrecked. Dad had to go home and I was finally left alone with Mum. I had a good sleep but I don't think mum did!
