Day 6 - My first day out

Had a great sleep last night. Slept from 2.30am to 8.30am. It was great. Mum and dad seemed to enjoy their sleep too. Don't think I'll do that every night though. Would like to keep them on their toes.

Dad went out first thing this morning and bought me a lovely new bath. When he got home mum stripped me down and gave me my first bath at home. It was lovely! I would prefer more bubbles but apparently I'm a bit young for them yet.

Can't wait to go swimming in the bigger bath.

Later on it got very exiting. We got into the car and I had my first journey wide awake. It was hard thought as the seat is so comfy I found it hard to stay awake. Then we arrived at Memorial Park and I went for my first walk in my new snazzy pram. It was nice to get my first blast of fresh air in the lovely sunshine.

I think mum enjoyed the walk almost as much as I did.

When we got back home I had a big dinner and mum gave me a big warm hug for ages afterwards as I looked around the house.

The comfiest place on the planet.

I then asked mum and dad to take our first family photo. I don't think dad had the aperture set properly so it was a bit dark. It was still nice though.

Our first family pic.

Tomorrow I'm 1 week old. Mum and dad say they have special plans for the day so I am looking forward to that.

Day 5 - Home

Today was a very busy day. Mum and Dad seemed very busy all morning gathering up all their things and mum was very exited because we didn't sleep a wink last night. All the doctors came into examine me and gave me clean bill of health and they were signing lots of forms. I found this all very boring so I fell asleep.

I was asleep leaving Holles Street. I'm going to miss all the nice nurses there.

So you can imagine my surprise when I woke up an hour later to find I wasn't in the hospital anymore. I was in my lovely new Moses basket from Anti Aoife. I love the yellow.

Oh my God! Is that a Sony Bravia HD TV!? Cool...

Mum was very exited to have me home. She showed me around the new home and showed me all the new things that she had bought for me. After a shower she went to bed for a well deserved nap.

Me and Mum at home for the first time.

That meant I got to spend the whole afternoon with just dad which was fun. I really like my new home.

That night I looked forward to a long nights sleep in my new home.

Wake me for breakfast.

Day 3 - Hello Magazine

Didn't sleep much last night. Had much more fun being hugged and walked around by mum all night.

Had a nice quiet day today. No Doctors or specialists came so I just spent the day with mum and dad for a change. Dad brought in mum's camera and she took loads of photos of me. It was like a Hello magazine shoot. Very embarrassing.

Having fun now looking around at things after my dinner. Enjoying eating too and today I had my first full feed so I am now eating what I should be for my weight. Must keep an eye on weight though, don't want to end up like dad.

Day 2 - Settling

Yesterday was a very busy day. Mum and Dad met with loads of consultants to talk about me, mum and my sister. It was like a train station around mum's bed. Eventually mum and dad met with the specialist from Temple Street and we talked about my cleft. Mum and dad learned how to feed me properly and that night I had a great dinner! I also learned that my lips and nose were all there but just in the wrong places. In 12 weeks they will be able to join them up the way they should be!!

Today was another busy day. Mum had physio and there were lots of doctors visiting again to help out. I started eating more and more and now I just need to start shouting and mum and dad feed me. I heard one of the nurses say "she has a great set of lungs".

Dad giving me my dinner.

Around 5pm we all moved off the ward into a private room. It was great. My grand parents came to visit again. I was asleep for most of it so missed what was going on..

After they left I had another great feed and ate so much that I fell straight asleep in my new room.

Day 0 - My first day

I arrived into the world. I weighed 9 lbs 1 oz (4.111 Kg) and was 54cm long (thanks to my long legs). My mum was brought away immediately to the operating theatre and I was left alone with my Dad. He looked rather shocked and worried that he didn't have a clue what to do with me. Eventually we were brought up to the nursery ward and were left in the changing room until Mum arrived back from surgery. It was there I had my first photo taken on camera phone...

My first photo

Later on I met Mum for the first time. Considering the past 3 days she had gone through, she looked like she had just returned from a 2 week holiday in the sun. She was very happy to see me.

My first hug from mum

It was then that I learned my name, Eilbhe Aisling. Sliabh Eilbhe is one of the most iconic landmarks in the Burren, Co. Clare. Aisling is the name of my twin sister. Immediately there was a debate about how to spell the name, but I think the Irish version is going to stick!
Later on I met with my Grandparents...

By the end of the night I was wrecked. Dad had to go home and I was finally left alone with Mum. I had a good sleep but I don't think mum did!

Day -2: Eviction

Accomodation (Mum in Pre labour)

I managed to convince the land lord that I was going to leave my accomodation early at 38 weeks. I cheekily stayed on 4 weeks longer than expected but then realised I had to leave before I got in trouble with the owner.
I decided though to take my time. So I spent 36 hours pretending I was coming. And when I eventually decided to leave I took my time. 11 hours!! Was thinking of coming on 24/7 for the irony but I waited another day!
